We have a thorough and robust educational component to our program. The fellow will have scheduled weekly adult cardiothoracic lectures throughout the year covering core topics in the specialty (i.e. disease/surgery management, echocardiography topics). Included in this lecture series is a monthly, fellow-directed cardiothoracic journal club and monthly case conferences. In addition, weekly Echocardiography Rounds are conducted to review interesting studies with cardiothoracic anesthesia faculty. Once a month, there is also a fellow lecture series for fellows of all anesthesia subspecialties to meet over dinner with faculty members throughout the department to discuss topics such as leadership, finances, and research skills. Operating Equipment Available: |
We have two dedicated cardiac operating rooms as well as hybrid operating room. We also have an additional pediatric cardiac operating room located in the adjoining Children’s Hospital. Our perioperative echocardiography machines are the Philips CVx platform with X8 and X7 TEE probes as well as surface (TTE) and vascular access probes. All of our echocardiography equipment is 3D capable. We use Synapse Cardiovascular Suite for offline interpretation. |
