Overall comments regarding your program.University of Mississippi Medical center is the only tertiary referral hospital in the state with both cardiac and Liver transplant programs. The fellowship program provides a wealth of opportunities for fellows to learn through management of a variety of complex patients coming from all over the state. The program provides a wide gamut of clinical experiences from mechanical circulatory device placement to adult congenital cardiac surgeries. This fellowship offers a two-month rotation at a private practice hospital that offers exposure to minimally invasive cardiac surgeries in a community setting. Fellows also get to do a one-month rotation in Pediatric cardiac anesthesia at the Sanderson Children’s hospital located within the university hospital campus. Our structured didactic schedule offers weekly lectures catered to the ABA cardiac anesthesia board exam and NBE TEE boards, weekly grand rounds including monthly Morbidity and Mortality conferences, journal clubs and Echo conferences. Fellows are trained by 6 Board certified Cardiac Anesthesiologists who are adept at TEE for interventional percutaneous procedures such TEER with MitraClip and LAA closure.
