Professional Development Mentoring Program (PDMP)
The Women in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Special Interest Group (WICTA SIG) of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists is proud to sponsor the Professional Development Mentoring Program (PDMP), now in its second year. The goal of PDMP is to foster networking and career development opportunities for members of WICTA.
There continues to be disparities in research funding for women and underrepresented minorities, part of which may be explained by the lack of mentoring. The goal of this year’s PDMP Clinical Mentoring Track is to match a mentee with an established research mentor to help guide the mentee in refining a research project and crafting a grant application, with the goal of applying for research funding, including SCA grants, for the 2021-2022 or 2022-2023 grant cycle. The project may be used to obtain pilot data for future grant applications, and must be feasible at the mentee’s institution. Mentees will meet with their mentors at least once a month, and will also meet with their peers within the same mentoring cohort monthly. There will also be webinars on the following topics: idea formation, project design, elements of a successful grant proposal, and how to foster a successful collaboration.
This program is open to all women and underrepresented minorities at all professional rank levels, who have not previously received extramural funding.
DEADLINE: Friday, December 18th.
