Committee Description
STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL: LEADERSHIP
SCA will be a recognized resource for healthcare providers engaged in the care of patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic procedures.
MISSION
The Kaplan Leadership Development Award Review Sub-Committee reviews applications for the Kaplan Leadership Development Scholarship. The scholarship assists cardiac anesthesiologists early in their careers to develop their leadership skills. It allows the applicants to participate in leadership education opportunities.
PURPOSE
The sub-committee coordinates the Kaplan Leadership Development Scholarship program to further the interests and goals of the Society by assisting future industry leaders grow their skills. Specific duties include:
1. To work with the SCA Foundation to secure donations to fund the scholarship.
2. To review incoming applications.
3. To review eligibility requirements on an annual basis.
PARENT COMMITTEE
The sub-committee reports to the Quality & Safety Leadership Committee.
MEETING
The sub-committee meets at least once per year.
COMPOSITION
The sub-committee is composed of the two Co-Chairs, Parent Committee (QSL) Chair, and up to ten other committee members. A Board Liaison may be appointed at the discretion of the President.
TERM
Sub-committee members serve for a term of two years for any number of terms, but not more than three terms consecutively.
