Annette Vegas, MD FRCPC FASE

Annette Vegas, MD FRCPC FASE, graduated from medical school at McGill University and completed her anesthesia residency at the University of Toronto. Following a cardiac anesthesia fellowship at Toronto General Hospital (TGH), Dr. Vegas became an attending staff anesthesiologist at TGH in 1994 where she continues to practice in the operating room and cardiovascular intensive care unit. She further trained in transesophageal echocardiography and is a former Director of Perioperative Echocardiography at TGH.

Dr. Vegas’s clinical interests include cardiac anesthesia, adult congenital heart disease and transesophageal echocardiography. In her commitment to continuing education, she has authored and edited books on echocardiography and written several book chapters and papers. Additionally, she serves as a developer of the TGH Department of Anesthesia Perioperative Interactive Education educational website and continues to deliver lectures at many international meetings.  Dr. Vegas is a well-respected educator and has been honored with awards for continuing medical education and teaching.
