Editor's Message Passing the Baton Nearing the end of my leg in this race, I am glad to be passing the baton to Dr. Mark Chaney, the next Editor and Chair of the SCA Newsletter. Dr. Chaney is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and the Interim Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia at the University of Chicago. He has served as Vice-Chair and Editor of the PRO/CON column since 1996. I am also proud to report that Dr. Chaney will be supported by an exceptional group of committee members. Dr. K. W. Tim Park, Associate Professor in Anesthesiology at Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, will take over the PRO/CON debates. Dr. Andrew Maslow, at Rhode Island Hospital who has published extensively in the area of intraoperative echocardiography, will take over the Drug and Innovation Update column. New members have joined the committee. Dr. Feroze Mahmood is also on staff at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Michael Wall is the new Vice Chair and Director of Cardiac Anesthesia and Critical Care at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Hong Lui, Director of Cardiac Anesthesia at the University of California, Davis is an experimental physiologist and former cardiac surgeon. Dr. E. Andrew Ochroch is a Thoracic Anesthesiologist and Biostatistician at the University of Pennsylvania. We have covered a lot of ground in the past several years and it has been a privilege to have served. I have appreciated the many ideas and contributions from the SCA membership.
