"Echocardiography On-line": A New Feature of Anesthesia & Analgesia

Anesthesia & Analgesia the official journal of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists has expanded the benefits available to SCA members. In addition to a new manuscript review system that allows manuscripts to be handled almost exclusively on-line, from submission through the peer-review process and into printed and on-line formats, there is now also the capacity for on-line submission and review of digital video files and for the posting of these files to the Anesthesia & Analgesia website. This feature is called "Echocardiography On-Line" and is the result of a collaborative initiative of the SCA Board of Directors and the Editorial Board of Anesthesia & Analgesia.

"Echocardiography On-Line" allows enhanced presentation of echocardio-graphic information by supplementing case reports or general articles with digital video loops. Articles will appear in the printed journal as well as on-line with a link to view one or more echocardiographic digital video loops. Manuscripts with video loops to be considered for publication may be submitted to the Anesthesia & Analgesia Editorial Office on zip disc, CD-ROM, or via e-mail (aaeditor@pacbell.net) or alternatively to a secure FTP site with a login name and password that can be obtained by contacting the Editorial Office. The specific formatting and file size requirements for the digital video loops are contained in the Journal's Guide for Authors. In addition to the use of video files for displaying echocardiographic information, this format for video supplementation has the capability for expansion to a significantly broader use to display other types of dynamic images.
