Critical Care Medicine

(Workshop limited to 150 registrants)

Educational Objectives: This workshop will include four core lectures and four interactive case discussions. The core lectures will provide information on the technical, logistic, and fiscal aspects on maintaining an intensive care unit, as well as recent advances in patient therapy and in management of organ dysfunction. The breakout sessions will allow interaction between participants and moderators to discuss cases of perioperative complications that can occur following cardiac, thoracic, or major vascular surgery.

A Joint Presentation

The actual cases presented during the breakouts will be chosen by the moderators and will involve management of patients with the following case scenarios:
Breakout 1: Neurologic deficit following cardiac surgery
Breakout 2: Low Cardiac Output Syndrome
Breakout 3: Ventilatory failure following lung resection surgery
Breakout 4: Acute renal dysfunction following aortic surgery
