WORKSHOP - Saturday, May 5, 2001
TEE for the Practicing Cardiac Anesthesiologist

(Workshop limited to 150 registrants)

Educational Objectives: This workshop is meant to expand upon the topics introduced in Essentials of TEE Practice. It can also be taken alone in order to increase understanding and knowledge of common diagnostic dilemmas faced by the cardiac anesthesiologist. This 4-hour course will provide the participant with informative lectures in transesophageal echocardiography as well as smaller breakout sessions which offer interaction with faculty. After completion of this course, the participant will: 1) learn to use TEE for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the mitral and aortic valves; 2) understand how to determine many hemodynamic parameters utilizing M-mode, 2D and Doppler echocardiography; and 3) gain an appreciation of the utility of TEE in the diagnosis and evaluation of diastolic dysfunction.
